Westlake Village, California

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of Jennifer Newton, beloved wife of Pacific Union Conference President Bradford C. Newton. Jennifer was a valued member of our Union family, and she will be deeply missed. While we await further details, we respectfully ask for privacy for Elder Newton and his family; condolences may be sent to info@adventistfaith.com to be shared with them at an appropriate time.

Our quarterly Pacific Union meetings are in progress this week, and many of our leaders and Executive Committee members are already in the Westlake Village area.  We have decided to continue these meetings on a truncated basis and will be handling the essential business items of the church during this sad and difficult time.

The Union Executive Committee will meet on Thursday as scheduled and will be available for members to join on Zoom. (Information about this will be sent to committee members directly.) The agenda will be limited to essential items only.

We ask for your heartfelt prayers and support of the Newton family—and our entire Union office staff during this time.

As is our practice in all circumstance involving our work or our employees, we request that inquiries for further information be directed to our Union communication team. There is no purpose served through even casual conversation that could be misunderstood, and can quickly become harmful misinformation.

We will update you as more information becomes available.

Dear Nevada-Utah Conference Family,

It is with profound sorrow that we share the news of the sudden passing of Jennifer Newton, beloved wife of Pacific Union Conference President, Elder Bradford C. Newton, earlier this morning.

Jennifer was not only a cherished member of the Pacific Union family, but she also holds a special place in the heart of the Nevada-Utah Conference. During the years Elder Newton faithfully served as President of our Conference, Jennifer walked alongside him in ministry with grace, warmth, and a quiet strength that blessed our pastors, our churches, and our families. Together, they modeled a life of shared calling and devotion to God’s work, something many of us witnessed firsthand and will always remember with deep gratitude.

We respectfully ask that we honor the family’s need for privacy during this deeply difficult time. We are partnering with the Pacific Union for any messages of condolence to be sent to info@adventistfaith.com, where they will be gathered and shared with the family at an appropriate time.

In this moment of grief, we invite every Nevada-Utah Conference family, church, and school to unite in prayer for Elder Newton, their children, and grandchildren. We also lift up the Pacific Union Conference team as they navigate both their responsibilities and their loss.

As Scripture reminds us:

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; He rescues those whose spirits are crushed.”(Psalm 34:18, NLT)

May we hold on to the hope we have in Christ, even as we grieve.

With prayerful sympathy,

The Officers of the Nevada-Utah Conference of Seventh-day Adventists

Ptr. Carlos A. Camacho, President
